Qbitech launched today a new version of Yhteiskaivuportaali for the customers of Johtotieto Oy. The new features of the portal include base map selection as well as the displaying of local power grid operator for a selected area.

Mar 16, 2014 - Strategy for distributing open data in the cities in Finland

Qbitech, together with Valomo Cooperative has now produced a report "Strategy for distributing open data in the cities in Finland (in Finnish)". The report analyses the requirements for an open data broker and describes the delivery system for the open data in the cities in Finland. Furthermore, the report gives an action plan how to proceed.

Jun 19, 2013 - Qbitech to develop new business concepts for open data in Tampere region

Valomo Cooperative and its member Qbitech has been selected to run a project for developing new business concepts in open data for Tredea, Tampere Region's Economic Development Agency.

It is predicted that open data i.e. data that can be freely used, reused, and distributed will drive growth, ingenuity, and innovation in many EU economies. Many governments and cities have already opened meteorological, legal, traffic, financial, economic, population, demographic, and map data. Many businesses will also need a strategy to exploit open data in order to revolutionise the way they compete as well as to inspire customer engagement.

The project produces e.g. recommendations for the processes, requirements, management, and financing of the open data catalog, data stores, and related cloud services in Tampere region. Furthermore, the project analyses the open data business, ecosystem and the feasibility for an open data broker. Finally, the project produces a detailed action plan how to proceed.

May 16, 2013 - Qbitech selected for providing management consulting services for Hansel through Gofore

Qbitech participated as a subcontractor for Gofore in a public tendering for providing management consulting for Hansel. Gofore, together with its subcontractors, was now selected for providing project management consultancy. The General Agreement was made for years 2013-2017, enabling the utilization of Qbitech's expertise in managing ICT development projects for the government sector.

Hansel is a company owned by the Finnish government, taking care of centralized procurement of service providers and suppliers.

May 12, 2013 - Oma Vuores portal launched!

Oma Vuores, a web portal for people living and working in the Vuores district, has been launched. Qbitech provided Vuores Palvelu Oy with consultancy throughout the development project. Qbitech's responsibilities included e.g. creating the initial technical specification of the portal, as well as running the negotiations with suppliers.

Vuores Palvelu Oy is a company providing services to the residents and companies in Vuores, focusing especially in building and maintaining the fibre optic network of Vuores. Vuores Palvelu Oy is owned by the city of Tampere and the housing companies in Vuores. Feb 6, 2013 - Axiell Finland to co-operate with Qbitech in service development for library systems

Axiell Finland and Qbitech have agreed about co-operation in service development for Axiell's IT solutions for libraries. Qbitech will help Axiell in bringing new services into the market.

Axiell is a solution-oriented company operating in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norge, the UK, and Ireland. It serves and develops IT and web solutions for libraries, archives and museums. Axiell's library management systems are in use in more than 700 public libraries in the Nordic countries and 70 public libraries authorities in the UK. Axiell serves also 3000 school libraries and special libraries. Axiell's turnover in 2010 was 37,7 million euros.

The upcoming version of Yhteiskaivuportaali will provide a more versatile mapping interface and a full-feature API for easy importing and exporting of data, as well as further improves the user experience of the service. Qbitech was selected today to the board of Valomo, a cooperative that Qbitech joined in January 2012. Jan 10, 2012 - Qbitech to design and develop a new www service for telecom operators and energy companies to help them to co-operate while trenching new underground fiber, copper, energy, and water networks.

Qbitech will design and develop a new www service for Johtotieto Oy, a company founded in 1991 and maintaining a location database of the routes of underground cable networks in Finland. Some of Johtotieto's customers include TeliaSonera, Elisa, DNA, Fortum, and Elenia. By having an up-to-date database of the cabling routes Johtotieto's partners can co-operate while trenching new fiber, copper, energy, and water networks.

The new service helps Johtotieto's partners to inform each other about new trenching projects, the planned routes, and schedules. The service will be taken into production later this year and it will bring significant time and costs savings in cable trenching for the companies involved.
